This is a 2 to 3 page paper. In this paper you will write about one of the works of art that we have studied so far.

You may want to analyze the work using the three categories we regularly use in class: formal, iconographic and contextual analysis or you may want to look at A checklist for analyzing movies The 'Grammar' of Television and Film (10 points) Requirements (If any of these requirements are left out or omitted your grade will be affected substantially.)Check the mechanics of your paper. Grammar, spelling and punctuation count. If you turn in a paper with run on sentences, poor punctuation, more than 5 spelling errors, or if you misspell the name of a major character or title, you will be marked down a full letter grade. (30 points) The structure:The paper must be a minimum of two pages in length and three pages maximum. Paper must be double spaced and typed. The largest font size you may use is 12 point. Paper must have a heading. Cover page or folder is unacceptable. All titles of works should be italicized or bracketed by quotation marks. Where appropriate, make sure you include the full artist/authors name, titles, and dates of any works mentioned in your essay. You may use additional sources please make sure to include a bibliography and use parenthetical citations. Bibliography and citations must be in standard MLA or APA form. If the paper is paper clipped or unstapled or in a folder I will turn the paper back to you ungraded. If you plagiarize you will have a zero averaged into your overall grade. You should also have it proof read by someone else other than yourself: a friend, a teacher or by a tutor over at the Library. Late Work Late work will be accepted, however, for every calendar day that the assignment is late it will be marked down a full letter grade. All work is due at the beginning of the class on the day it is due. If you are late to class the work will late and marked down a full letter grade. You may not e-mail assignments to me unless we have discussed it and I have given you permission in advance of the due date.
- The structure of the paper should be based on five paragraph long freshman essay which consists of:
- Introductory paragraph in which you provide your thesis statement (opinion), and the three basic reasons supporting your statements.
- Body of the essay. The body usually consists of one to three paragraphs. Each paragraph provides detailed explanation and proof supporting one of your three reasons.
- Conclusion. In this paragraph you tell me what you already told me. This paragraph consists of a summary of your arguments and any extra information you may want to add.
