Give a 5 to 7 minute presentation in front of the class on a piece of
art of your choice.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to pick something we have not studied before.
DO NOT choose a work of art we have already seen or discussed in class
or at the Cantor Museum.
You may either bring in a physical work of art, or a reproduction of
an artwork (no personal photographs).
Be sure to include the following in your presentation:
1. The artist(s), title, date, period/style, country/region
2. A short discussion of the formal analysis, iconography,
and context of the artwork and how it functions in the piece
3. Discussion of why you chose the artwork.
Why do you like it? What makes it interesting to you?
4. As you discuss the topics listed above, be sure
to point out how they are seen or where they are in the artwork.
The point of this final assignment is to synthesis what you have learned in this class and use it to talk about a piece of art.
I encourage you to be creative in your presentation style. Dress up as the artist if you like, or speak as the artist's representative. Or you can pretend to be an art critic.
