Requirements for Art Appreciation Assignment #1 Vocabulary Questions

• You will need to visit the gallery in the Smith Center to answer these questions.  The goal is to analyze a single work of art from the gallery show and write a complete grammatical sentences about it.
• This assignment must be typed.
• YOU NEED TO TYPE THE QUESTION NUMBER, THE QUESTION, AND DOUBLE SPACE YOUR ANSWERS.
• You do not need to include the images.
• All titles of works should be italicized or bracketed by quotation marks. (You do not italicize or set off the names of buildings but you should italicize unfamiliar or foreign words the first time you use them.)
• Where appropriate, make sure you include the full artist/authors name, titles, and dates of any works mentioned in your answers.
• Write this off the top of your head without opening the textbook or using the internet first.
• Do not use quotations and even avoid paraphrasing.  All work should be your own. Do not cheat.  If you cheat or plagiarize you will earn an immediate zero for this assignment.  Go to this link to understand what cheating.

6) Write one to three sentences or two in which you analyze the work of art you have chosen in terms of its composition.  Is it asymmetrical or symmetrical.  You may want to remark on anything you think about the composition that is pleasing or displeasing, interesting to you or boring, remarkable or unremarkable.

7) Write a sentence or two in which you analyze the work of art you have chosen in terms of its medium (the materials used to make it).  You may want to remark on anything you think about the medium that is pleasing or displeasing, interesting to you or boring, remarkable or unremarkable.
